Thoughtfully designed to reflect the iconic architecture of colonial New England, Orchard Hill was skillfully constructed over a two-year span of time to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. The building’s timelessly classic exterior and gracious, welcoming interior reflect a meticulous attention to every detail, both large and small.

What is Assisted Living?

Assisted Living as defined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in M.G.L. is any entity, however organized, whether conducted for profit or not for profit, which meets all of the following criteria: (a) provides room and board; and (b) provides, directly by its employees or through arrangements with another organization which the entity may or may not control or own, Personal Care Services for three or more adults who are not related by consanguinity or affinity to their care provider; and (c) collects payments or third party reimbursements from or on behalf of Residents to pay for the provision of assistance with the Activities of Daily Living, or arranges for the same.

Assisted Living includes all of the above, but also assumes that you desire a more active degree of assistance day-to-day with certain daily tasks, like showering, dressing and managing medications.

Our Personal Commitment

We value each and every member of the Orchard Hill Assisted Living Community and remain steadfastly committed to providing a universally safe environment that is respectful, comfortable, joyful and nurturing of mind, body, heart and spirit.

History

Orchard Hill Assisted Living is privately owned by Sudbury native Clifford Hughes, who broke ground on the project in 1997.

With a vision to create a New England farmhouse style mansion, Cliff worked closely with his architects to design comfortable, bright interior living spaces, filled with abundant natural light. It was equally important to Cliff that there be ample and generous community spaces for residents to spend time together, outside of their own apartments. Having grown up on a carnation flower farm in Sudbury, Cliff believes that a beautiful outdoor environment is a constant source of joy and relaxation; thus, he intentionally planned the expansive grounds to include both wooded and landscaped areas, abundant perennials gardens, and numerous flowering trees, including an apple orchard.

Orchard Hill Assisted Living won the coveted Senior Living Design Award the year they opened their doors in 1999.
