  • Position: Waitstaff

    FLSA STATUS :

    PURPOSE

    Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Waitperson serves meals to the residents of the Community in a timely, pleasant and professional manner, while maintaining a clean and orderly dining room.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct pre-meal set up and including but not limited to filling water pitchers, filling butter containers, placing linens and setting out dinnerware and utensils. 
    • Explain menu selections to residents and/or guests so that they are fully aware of all the menu items that are available; understand and articulate knowledge of the ingredients used in preparing all dishes on the menu. Understand and explain all alternative menu choices available. 
    • Take all food orders clearly and precisely. 
    • Assure quality table service by utilizing proper service techniques, and exhibiting a cheerful, courteous and positive attitude while adapting to the various needs of each resident. 
    • Time the delivery of food from the kitchen and expedite food delivery to residents. 
    • Conduct post meal clean-up including but not limited to removing all dinnerware to kitchen, vacuuming dining room, and cleaning chairs. 
    • Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene and adhere to department uniform policy including the continuous wearing of an Orchard Hill authorized nametag. 
    • Responsible for promoting an environment that results in resident satisfaction by exhibiting a positive attitude and timely response to resident needs and requests. 
    • Follow the department and Orchard Hill Assisted Living, policies and procedures and federal, state and local laws and regulations, where applicable 
    • All other duties as required and consistent with the education and skills required for this position. 

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE-CERTIFICATION


    EDUCATION:  

    High School Diploma or equivalent certificate preferred. 



    PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:  

    Previous experience as waitstaff or in a food service environment desirable. Previous experience working with the elderly and/or disabled in a paid or volunteer position is highly desirable. 



    LICENSE:  None 


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

    • Ability to read, write and speak English. 
    • Working knowledge of the use of a vacuum cleaner, wet/dry vacuum, and other cleaning products and equipment normally used in a dining room setting, highly desirable. 
    • Ability to be flexible and work in an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration. 
    • Excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to relate in a positive and professional way to a diverse resident and employee population. 
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, employees, staff and the community. 
    • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, complete assignments in a timely manner while managing multiple duties and responsibilities. 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

    • Physically able to move at least 30 lbs. without assistance. 
    • Physically able to bend, reach and work in small areas. 
    • Physically able to push and pull equipment and furnishings. 
    • Physically able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Position: CNA/HHA

    Join the team at Orchard Hill at Sudbury Assisted Living. Privately owned and operated in a small boutique community. We are looking for part time and full time dedicated Caregivers in a warm welcoming working environment. We are paying a current competitive hourly wage.

  • Position: Receptionist

    Reporting to the Business Office Manager, the Receptionist serves as the initial contact with the Community, either by phone or by visit. Provides direct assistance or refers calls/visitors to the appropriate Community resource. Sets a positive tone for residents, their guests, visitors and staff. Troubleshoots problems within the Community as necessary, and reports status to the appropriate Department Head.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Greet and receive guests in a cordial and friendly manner. Assist guests or refer to appropriate Community resource. Assistance may include, but is not limited to, providing directions, providing basic information about Community, and distributing job application forms. 
    • Answer all incoming telephone calls, assist within the scope of position, transfer or take accurate messages. Answer calls to reception desk from residents. This may include taking tray service orders. 
    • Responsible for monitoring Arial System, and troubleshooting any problems with the system. Coordinate emergency back-up if needed and inform Department Heads. 
    • Maintain the neatness of the reception area, entry way, sunroom, parlor, and library to provide a positive image to residents and visitors. Ensure music is on in the sunroom, IPAD displays weather station, control climate (A/C and heat) in parlor and library, grandfather clock is wound, fireplaces are lit (weather permitting) and all lights are on in all common areas. 
    • Maintain sign-in/out logs for both visitors and residents. Report to dining room any meals that will be missed by residents. 
    • Report number of resident guests in advance to kitchen and obtaining residents info on all guest meal slips (we do not accept cash/check). 
    • Maintain resident sign-up book for appointments and activities such as hair salon, weekly shopping trips, out-trips, and various other activities. 
    • Maintain a work order log that lists maintenance and/or housekeeping requests. 
    • Assist Department Heads with administrative tasks and projects, e.g., typing menus, minutes of meetings, shift assignments, photocopying, etc. 
    • Distribute internal communications to resident’s mailboxes. Write assigned names on daily newspapers. 
    • Operate and maintain office equipment, e.g., postage meter, photocopier, fax machine, etc. 
    • Responsible for promoting an environment that results in resident satisfaction by exhibiting a positive attitude and timely response to resident needs and requests. 
    • Follow Department and Orchard Hill Assisted Living policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State and local laws and regulations, where applicable. 
    • Conduct activities with residents as planned by the Activities Director and hold socials.
    • All other duties as required and consistent with the education and skills required for this position.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE-CERTIFICATION 


    EDUCATION: 

    High School diploma required. 


    PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:  

    Six months of successful work history desirable. Previous experience working with the elderly and/or disabled in a paid or volunteer position is highly desirable.

    • Working knowledge of all office equipment, including but not limited to, multi-line telephone, calculator, copier and fax machine, etc., desirable.
