A Sweet Tradition: Baklava Made with Local Honey

Dana Bates • March 31, 2025

After a recent visit from a local beekeeper, we were reminded just how special traditions are here at Orchard Hill.

One of our most beloved traditions began with Myra Cicalis, who recently retired after 15 wonderful years as our Office Manager. Each holiday season, our owner Cliff would share jars of honey harvested from his own hives with the staff. Myra, embracing her Greek heritage, would use that honey to bake her famous baklava, always sharing it generously with our residents and staff. Her baklava wasn’t just a delicious dessert, it was a heartfelt gesture that embodied the warmth and joy she always brought to our community.

Today, we’re honored to pass along Myra’s treasured recipe. We hope it brings warmth, sweetness, and the Orchard Hill spirit of community into your own home.
