Planning with Purpose: Privacy, Planning, and Community

May 13, 2025

At Orchard Hill, we are committed to supporting not just the health of our residents, but also their rights, dignity, and personal choices. This month, we welcomed back Libby from BAYADA for an important presentation, "Your Voice, Your Privacy," in honor of National Healthcare Decisions Day.

The discussion focused on empowering residents to clearly express their healthcare wishes through advance directives such as living wills and healthcare proxies. Residents also learned about the importance of HIPAA privacy protections and how respecting confidentiality strengthens our community. Through this thoughtful conversation, BAYADA reminded us that building a respectful, caring environment begins with listening, honoring each other's choices, and kindly respecting each other’s privacy when it comes to healthcare.

We encourage our residents to continue to reflect on their personal healthcare wishes, ask questions as needed, and take important steps to protect their privacy and voice in every aspect of their care.
